On Tuesday 13th September, we invited a mix of supporters, staff and volunteers to our community garden to see all the hard work our clients have put into making in a lovely, relaxing space.
The celebration started just like our relationships with our clients: small talk over coffee. Then, once everyone was settled, with doughnuts fresh from our kitchen, Revd Dr Sam Wells from St Martin-in-the-Fields gave a lovely speech welcoming everyone. This included a minute of silence for Her Majesty the Queen.
Then Pam, our CEO, talked about how the garden has developed with a fantastic group effort from our clients and St Martin-in-the-Fields, building it from the ground up – literally!
If you’d like to watch these speeches, they were livestreamed to our Facebook Page.
This community garden is a great example of our trauma-informed way of working with clients. Much like the flowers and herbs, our clients flourish at their own pace and, with support for their unique needs, they can continue growing on their own into the future.
Thanks again to everyone who attended, it was lovely to see our community come together to support and connect with our work. We hope to see you all again soon and can’t wait to watch our garden grow!
This activity is also a great way to support our clients’ mental health and personal development. If you would like to support the community garden and other projects like it, learn more here.
