Event: The London Walk 2025

London Walk 2024 - people walking with logo in foreground

On the evening of Friday 14th March 2025 we are taking part in the London Walk, organised by our friends the London Homeless Collective. This walk brings charities working in homelessness in the city together to walk as one. Every step powering the journey towards brighter tomorrows.

There will be three routes available; a 10K, half marathon and marathon through Central London. Starting and finishing at The Connection St Martin’s in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square. Walking through the night offers an opportunity for reflection on the experience of people who are homeless. Not just people who are forced to sleep on the streets but those who walk through the night, travel on night buses or access 24 hour retail sites in order to stay awake and stay safe. In particular young people, trans people and women, who are all especially vulnerable to violence and exploitation.

About us:
The Connection have been supporting people sleeping rough to move away from the streets for over 100 years. We get to know each person we work with. Many have been pushed to the edge, and they all have their own challenges to overcome.

Everyone needs to find their own way home, but we go with them every step of the journey. It often starts with a chat, the offer of a coffee and perhaps a hot meal or shower. Simple things that aren’t easy when you are living on the streets. We work with people to recover from the streets so that they can move on to a meaningful, fulfilling and settled life, long into the future.

What difference could you make?
£150 could fund 6 full initial assessments for newly homeless people, creating their action plans and giving them access to hot nutritious meals, showers, laundry and GP services.

£350 could enable a vulnerable homeless rough sleeper to have a course of specialist one-to-one mental health support sessions which will help them to positively cope with their problems and move forward. Considering that approximately two thirds of homeless people living on the streets have mental health problems which are often severely hindering their ability to move on from the streets, that is a massive contribution.
